Trummelbach Falls & Lauterbrunnen Valley Walk

Few places in the Alps feel as dramatic as the Lauterbrunnen Valley, often called the “valley of waterfalls,” with cliffs that seem to pour water from every direction. The highlight is Trummelbach Falls, a series of glacial torrents thundering through the inside of the mountain itself. Safe tunnels, walkways and platforms lead you deep into the rock, where ten powerful waterfalls twist and roar in a hidden world carved by ice.

Afterward, the valley’s gentle trails invite a slower pace, meandering past meadows, traditional chalets and dozens of visible cascades tumbling from the cliffs above. The contrast between the raw force of the underground falls and the quiet pastoral beauty outside makes this a hike that appeals to every age and energy level. With around five hours to take it all in, there’s time to pause for photos, picnics or simply to marvel at how water has shaped this iconic Swiss landscape.
